This marks a significant shakeup for a team that has already had a tumultuous year of competitive play.
NRG’s performance in the 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) has been disappointing.
Following a strong start at the VCT Americas Kick-off, the team failed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing fifth in Group Alpha of the VCT 2024 Americas Stage 1.
In response, NRG brought back veteran in-game leader Pujan “FNS” Mehta and former controller player Sam “s0m” Oh for Stage 2, moving star duelist Max “Demon1” Mazanov to the substitute position and letting Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen go.
Despite these changes, NRG won only one of their four Stage 2 games, finishing fourth in Group Alpha and missing the playoffs again.
The decision to part ways with Victor and Chet appears to stem from the need to reassess and rebuild the team’s dynamics.
VCT Roster Update: Today, we have decided to release @victorwong and @chetsingh from the NRG VALORANT roster.
From the beginning, they've had an incredible impact at NRG and we are so grateful for all their contributions. Thank you for everything and we wish you the best! pic.twitter.com/8GTMGuVDTX
— NRG (@NRGgg) July 16, 2024
Victor, a versatile and experienced player, struggled to deliver consistently at the highest level, finishing Stage 2 with an overall rating of 0.92.
His departure suggests that NRG is looking to inject fresh talent and new strategies into their lineup.
Having been with NRG since 2022, Victor’s presence will be missed by players and fans alike.
Chet’s departure as head coach is equally significant.
Known for his strategic mind and experience across various esports titles, Chet’s tenure with NRG was marked by highs and lows.
While he contributed to some of the team’s strategic successes, the overall inconsistency likely prompted the organisation to seek a new direction in coaching and leadership.
Welcoming Demon1 back into the fold should improve this struggling NRG roster, as he brings a winning mentality and valuable experience from his time on the Evil Geniuses VALORANT Champions-winning squad.
This move by NRG reflects a broader trend in the esports industry, where organisations are quick to make changes in pursuit of success.
The competitive nature of VALORANT, coupled with the high stakes of the VCT circuit, means that teams must constantly evolve and adapt.
As NRG navigates this transitional phase, fans will be watching closely, hoping that the changes will lead to a resurgence in form.
The departure of Victor and Chet marks the end of a chapter but also opens the door for new possibilities and a potential comeback in the competitive VALORANT scene.
With VALORANT Champions less than a month away, the final week of the Stage 2 group stage is upon us.
VCT China’s group stage is already complete, but the VCT Pacific, VCT EMEA and VCT Americas leagues will end in the coming days before the playoffs start the following week.
Meanwhile, the Dota 2 Riyadh Masters will continue this week at the Esports World Cup, with the group stage starting on July 10.
T1 and BLEED Esports will play the final series of VCT Pacific on July 8, with the playoffs to begin on July 12.
The final five matches of the VCT EMEA group stage will take place from July 9–11, with most of the clashes determining where the playoff teams finish on the table.
The VCT Americas league will be the last to finish, with the final series of the group stage taking place on July 14.

SENTINELS vs EVIL GENIUSES VCT BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |

Best Odds: | Sentinels $1.08 at GG Bet | EG $6.88 at GG Bet |

Sentinels bounced back following a 0-2 loss against Leviatan in Week 2 with a 2-0 sweep of MiBR on Saturday. It was a good showing from the reigning VCT 2024 Madrid Masters champions, who gave MiBR very little room to breathe, showing excellent execution on both attack and defence.
Evil Geniuses have not been as successful this season. They showed some good qualities against Cloud9 on Monday when they won Lotus with a strong performance on defence, but even that was overshadowed by poor showings on Sunset and Split.
The biggest issue with EG is their weak map pool. Unlike the 2023 roster, Evil Geniuses are also not as adaptable, which explains their lack of consistency and slow starts.
Sentinels should win, but at $1.08 with VCT bookmakers, they’re overrated. Evil Geniuses are not great, but they tend to do well on certain maps, and as long as they don’t fall behind too early, they can do some damage.

NRG are slowly making a case for themselves as one of the strongest VALORANT esports teams in the region. They did well in the Kickoff tournament, with just one 1-2 defeat against the eventual champions, Sentinels, and they haven’t looked bad so far in VCT 2024 Americas Stage 1.
Max “Demon1” Mazanov, in particular, has been phenomenal, with the league’s third-highest average performance rating at 1.39, ahead of Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen, who ranks fifth at 1.29.
MiBR enter the third week of VCT 2024 Americas Stage 1 with a 0-2 record after defeats against Sentinels and KRU Esports. Like NRG, MiBR had moments during VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff, but they’ve not looked good ever since Stage 1 started.
VALORANT betting sites have NRG priced as $1.63 favourites, which is very generous considering how much better they’ve been playing than MiBR. This number likely won’t hold, but anything around $1.60 is worth a bet.

MiBR have played just one game in VCT 2024 Americas Stage 1 and lost against KRU Esports, winning just 14 rounds. But despite MiBRs unconvincing display in the previous round, the Brazilian side had a good showing in the VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff with wins against FURIA, Cloud9, and G2 Esports.
Sentinels looked poised to dominate Stage 1 after winning the VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff and Madrid Masters, but their golden run came to an end last Saturday when they were swept by Leviatan. While losing to a stacked roster is nothing much to worry about, Leviatan proved that Sentinels could bleed.
Sentinels are the better of the two teams in this contest, but MiBR are much more potent than what they have shown of late. At $3.00 with VALORANT betting sites, its tough to pass on MiBR to win at least one map.
CLOUD9 vs LOUD VCT BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |

Cloud9 have won both of their VCT 2024 Americas Stage 1 fixtures so far, beating Leviatan and Evil Geniuses. However, they dropped a map in both and didnt look very convincing against Evil Geniuses on Monday.
LOUD have played just one game so far, losing 0-2 against NRG with a combined 12-26 round record. While one off day isnt a reason for concern, especially after making some noise in both the Americas Kickoff and Masters Madrid, we have already seen that lead-up form doesn’t necessarily translate to Stage 1 success.
LOUD should win, but Cloud9 have proved to be a resilient team. Considering they made roster changes in March, C9 should only get better with time.
According to a new post, The Guard, a fan favourite organization, failed to meet the deadline to agree to the leagues team participation agreement after several months and rounds of communication.”

As a result, they will no longer be participating in the 2024 VCT Americas League, much to the surprise of fans and players alike.
Additionally, no other teams from the Challengers sceneincluding M80, the runner ups from the Challenger Ascension tournament will be promoted to the main league.
Instead, Riot has decided to run the following season with the same 10 teams as before, causing an uproar within the VALORANT community.
For The Guards roster, it seems that todays news came as a complete surprise, with multiple players and their coach indicating that none of them knew of the decision beforehand.
Michael neT Bernet displayed his displeasure with how things were handled and the betray he feels towards his organisation for taking away this opportunity.
Meanwhile, the coach of The Guard, Josh “JoshRT” Lee, joined neT in displaying his displeasure with the decision and even said that he will be looking to move on from the VALORANT organisation when he becomes a free agent.
I am devastated. All the hard work and sacrifices we have went through as a team just to have it stripped away from us through Twitter At the end of the day some things in life are truly out of your control and it is unfair but to be punished for putting my heart and soul into

Cloud9 and Leviatan will meet in the lower-bracket finals at Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Americas Last Chance Qualifier in what should be an exciting affair between two of the strongest teams from the region.
Leviatan have met with Cloud9 twice since the VCT 2023 Americas League regular season and lost both games (0-2, 1-2), so it’s fair to see Cloud9 priced as favourites. But at $1.40, they’re a bit overrated.
Cloud9, who entered the VCT 2023 Americas LCQ as the main favourites to secure a ticket for VALORANT Champions 2023, haven’t looked nearly as good as expected. They dropped a map against Sentinels (5-13 on Fracture) and suffered a rough reverse sweep loss against KR Esports (13-4, 4-13, 6-13). Leviatan haven’t produced anything remarkable either, but they played a cleaner game against Sentinels on Wednesday.
After getting smashed by KR Esports (5-13, 7-13), Leviatan made quick work of Sentinels in the lower bracket semifinal, with 13-8 on Fracture and 13-4 on Split. That victory doesn’t prove that Leviatan are better than Cloud9, but they showed enough for us to believe that Leviatan can fight.
Cloud9 should win, but the gap between the two teams isn’t nearly as big as the offered Valorant betting odds suggest. Expect a close game.
NRG vs 100 THIEVES VCT BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |

NRG enter Week 5 of VCT 2023 Americas League with a 2-3 record and just one win from their last three series. Last week, NRG lost to Cloud9 (1-2) and won against KRU Esports (2-0) and, a week before, kneeled to MiBR (1-2) in a very close series which got decided in overtime (14-16).
Considering their shaky run through the season, it might make sense to see NRG priced as underdogs against 100 Thieves, who are 3-2 and fresh off a massive 2-1 victory against Leviatan. However, we would argue that this is NRG’s game.
100 Thieves might have won three series this season, but besides upsetting Leviatan, they’ve only beaten Evil Geniuses (2-0) and KRU Esports (2-1), and they didn’t look too convincing in either of the three series.
This looks closer to a 50/50 match than anything else, and even though neither showed anything exceptional recently, we prefer NRG at plus money.
MIBR vs FURIA ESPORTS VCT BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |
|
---|---|
Best Odds: | MiBR $2.62 at GG Bet | FURIA $1.44 at GG Bet |
When: | April 29, 2023 | 13:00 PDT |
Watch Live: | Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/valorant_americas) |
As the latest Valorant betting odds suggest, this should be a very one-sided fixture, and it’s tough to find a reason to argue with that. MiBR have had their moments this season, including a three-map series against LOUD (1-2), but they also lost against Leviatan (0-2) and Sentinels (0-2) badly last week.
Against Sentinels, MiBR put together just 11 rounds (5-13, 6-13) and were just as disappointing against Leviatan (4-13, 3-13). Even though those are good teams, those are just two of many shaky results MiBR have produced recently.
FURIA Esports are 3-2, which isn’t great for their standards, but they usually do well against weaker teams, so facing MiBR should suit them. Since this is an all-Brazilian clash, it could lead to a very scrappy game; however, that is the type of match where FURIA Esports usually shine.
We’re getting $2.62 on FURIA to win 2-0, and that’s an excellent offer.
KRU ESPORTS vs 100 THIEVES VCT BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |
|
---|---|
Best Odds: | KRU $3.40 at GG Bet | 100T $1.30 at GG Bet |
When: | April 22, 2023 | 12:00 PDT |
Watch Live: | Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/valorant_americas) |
?KRU Esports have yet to find any traction this season and enter this match with three losses against FURIA Esports (0-2), MiBR (1-2), and Evil Geniuses (1-2). 100 Thieves, on the other hand, are 1-2 with defeats against Cloud9 (0-2) and Sentinels (1-2), while their sole victory happened in Week 2 against Evil Geniuses (2-0).
Neither team is in a good spot, but according to the top VCT betting sites, 100 Thieves are strong favourites to come out on top. It might have to do with 100Ts strong performance against Evil Geniuses (who beat KRU), but KRU also played a very close series against MiBR (13-9, 11-13, 12-14).
So if we compare the teams past results, its hard to justify the offered Valorant betting odds. 100 Thieves still have a higher ceiling, but that hasnt helped them achieve much this season.
100 Thieves should win, but theyre inconsistent, so its not entirely unlikely for this game to end with an upset or, at the very least, KRU Esports winning a map.
EVIL GENIUSES vs FURIA ESPORTS VCT BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |
|
---|---|
Best Odds: | EG $4.50 at GG Bet | FURIA $1.16 at GG Bet |
When: | April 22, 2023 | 15:00 PDT |
Watch Live: | Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/valorant_americas) |
After winning their first two series of the season against KRU Esports (2-0) and Leviatan (2-1), FURIA Esports suffered their first loss of the VCT 2023 Americas League on Monday, when they got swept (0-2) by LOUD. It was a one-sided series, with FURIA collecting just 13 rounds in total (nine on Split and four on Icebox), but that loss doesnt mean much.
FURIA Esports are still one of the strongest teams in the league, but much like any other VCT Americas League squad, theyre not nearly as good as LOUD. So despite that loss, there are no reasons to feel overly concerned about FURIA.
Evil Geniuses are 1-2 after three weeks of play, with two losses against Cloud9 (0-2) and 100 Thieves (0-2), while their sole victory came against KRU Esports (2-1) on Sunday. Yet even that series was very close (13-11, 11-13, 13-7), so its hard to praise EG too much for their bounce-back victory.
As the latest Valorant betting odds show, FURIA should secure a comfortable win on Saturday, and based on what Evil Geniuses have shown so far, its hard to doubt that.
Similarly to the VCT 2023 EMEA League and VCT 2023 Pacific League, the Americas League has a few strong candidates to hoist the trophy and a handful of outsiders expected to struggle. However, with most teams making significant changes to their rosters ahead of the 2023 season, it’s tough to make any firm conclusions C even though the results at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN S?o Paulo can be used as a solid form guide.
Priced at $2.75 with GG Bet, reigning Valorant world champions LOUD lead the outright betting markets, followed by Leviatan ($4.50), NRG Esports ($5.00), and 100 Thieves ($6.00) as the leading candidates to make a splash this season.
The 2023 VCT season introduced many changes to the Valorant competitive scene, yet the most significant came in the major roster reshuffle. That was initiated by Riot Games not partnering with some of the strongest Valorant squads of 2022, leaving many top-tier talents without a home.
Despite the expected re-balancing of power in the region, LOUD made just two roster changes and retained their status as the strongest Americas Valorant team. Following an incredible run through the 2022 season, which culminated with LOUD winning VALORANT Champions 2022, the Brazilian squad didn’t fail to impress at the start of the month.
In front of their home fans, LOUD made it to the grand finals of VCT 2023 LOCK//IN S?o Paulo and nearly completed a reverse sweep against Fnatic but lost in one of the closest matches in Valorant esports history. Regardless, a silver medal from the LOCK//IN tournament looks good next to LOUD’s trophies from last season.
As the best-performing Americas team of VCT 2023 LOCK//IN, LOUD are naturally considered the strongest team entering VCT 2023 Americas League. However, considering all the talent entering the 2023 season, it’s unfair to say that the Americas League is a one-horse race.
Outside the top contenders, there are a few teams that have the talent to compete for the VCT 2023 Americas League trophy if things fall into place.
100 Thieves ($6.00) are not quite in the upper echelon of the Americas, and they didn’t impress earlier this month in S?o Paulo (5th-8th), but this is a solid team with a very high ceiling. Even though 100 Thieves have a lot of growing to do and need to figure out their role situation, this can be a great thing as it suggests that 100T can become much stronger by May.
Leviatan ($4.50) bolstered their roster by signing KRU Esports’ two best players – Roberto “Mazino” Bugue?o and Angelo “keznit” Mori – and looked good in Brazil. Unfortunately, we saw them crumble against top opponents, so even though this is still an incredibly talented team, Leviatan, like 100 Thieves, still need to grow.
FURIA Esports ($21.00) crashed out of VCT 2023 LOCK//IN in the second round, which doesn’t look good on paper. But their only defeat came against eventual champions Fnatic (16-18, 9-13), so it’s hard to overreact to their rather underwhelming placement in the season-opening event.
People seem to be sleeping on FURIA solely because they didn’t make it far in the LOCK//IN, but things would’ve looked much different had they not played Fnatic so early. At this price, FURIA look severely underrated.
LOUD ($2.75) lead the outright betting markets, which doesn’t sound too crazy given their success over the last 12 months. But there is no value backing them at this number.
Indeed, LOUD look like the strongest Americas team heading into the 2023 season, yet they’re not untouchable. Looking at the outright betting odds, we don’t see a reason why LOUD should be priced that much shorter than some of their main rivals.
NRG Esports ($5.00), who made it to the third round of VCT 2023 LOCK//IN, made quite a statement with their performance, which seems to have gone unnoticed. Their only defeat of the tournament came against LOUD, and even that was an incredibly close match (3-13, 15-13, 16-18) which could’ve easily gone the other way.
According to the outright betting odds, LOUD have a 36.4% chance of winning the league, whereas NRG Esports have a 20% implied probability of claiming the trophy. Seeing LOUD being priced nearly twice as likely to win the league doesn’t look right.
LOUD can win VCT 2023 Americas League, and they might be the strongest squad ahead of the season, but at the offered odds with Valorant betting sites, NRG Esports look to be a far more appealing pick. We’re also adding a longshot pick on FURIA to make the finals at $10.00, which is a surprisingly good offer for a team that is much stronger than what they’ve shown at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN.
