Echo Esports just signed a multi-year contract with Elgato, a content creation company. The German esports organization announced the partnership by posting a video that featured the logo of the content-creating brand on the shoulder of its jerseys.
?
In the deal, Elgato will play the role of Echo Esports event content creation partner and make several of its products available to the World of Warcraft guild. No other services provided by the content creation company have been disclosed at the moment.?
?
The Head of Partnerships at Echo Esports, Jamin P?tzelsberger, talked about the deal and revealed that it had been a dream of the organization since its founding.

“Since Echo was founded, weve always dreamed of partnering with Elgato because of the insane value their products bring to our day-to-day streams and events,” he said.
?
“Especially when it comes to our in-house events like the Race to World First, its incredibly important to maintain consistent quality of audiovisual input from the players and caster.”
?
Elgato is the sixth company Echo has partnered with since it started operations in 2020. The esports company’s other partners include Secretlab, a gaming chair manufacturer; Displate, a manufacturer of metal posters; and Shikenso, a data analytics firm.?

??
The German Esports organization is a part of the MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) esports scene with an emphasis on World of Warcraft. The organization was founded by players from a famous World of Warcraft guild, Method. It is a regular part of one of World of Warcrafts most popular esports raid events, Race to World First (RWF), and has scored two consecutive wins in the game.
?
Echo Esports was named the RWF Sepulcher of the First One’s Champions a few months ago. It also expanded Final Fantasy in 2021 and participated in Final Fantasy XIV; however, World of Warcraft is still its main focus.
?
Elgato is a popular brand in esports and gaming and one that does not have as many esports partnerships as its reputation leads one to assume. Echo Esports is the companys first partnership with an esports organization this year. Elgato only worked with two esports companies in 2021, Tribe Gaming and QUADRANT.
?
The Tribe Gaming and Elgato partnership was similar to its deal with Echo Esports. The company made its products available to the esports organization; however, the duo also collaborated on a mobile gaming-focused content series released on Tribes YouTube channel. They also created an incubation program to help aspiring content creators for mobile gaming.?
?
The video game capture hardware brand Elgato also partnered with QUADRANT and provided the organization with streaming equipment. The partnership was the esports companys first official commercial deal since its launch in November 2020. The association also provided the brand with upgraded streaming setups that include Elgato capture cards, lighting products as well as green screens.?

Team Liquid has added another partnership to its rich list of partner brands. The Netherland-based organization has secured a partnership with the metal poster organization Displate.

As part of the agreement, both parties will work together to produce a series of posters that will feature content creators, Liquid’s mascot, and various players from Liquid’s VALORANT and League of Legends rosters.

The first collection of six posters was designed by the illustrator known as “ohnips,” who has worked with Riot Games and Cloud9 in the past. Sren ‘Bjergsen’ Bjerg (League of Legends), Max ‘qojqva’ Brocker (Dota 2), Adil ‘ScreaM’ Benrlitom (VALORANT), Max ‘Maximum’ Smith (World of Warcraft), and Juan ‘Hungrybox’ Debiedma (Super Smash Bros.) are some of the gamers featured on the posters.

According to a press release, the first collection of posters created by Displate, and the organization consists of six different designs. Displate has announced that additional designs will be made available in the “coming weeks.”

This is not the first rodeo for the metal poster creators. In the earlier part of 2022, it collaborated with the World of Warcraft guild Echo to design a series of posters that feature both the guild’s logo and a number of its members. In addition, the manufacturer offers a variety of branded gaming products, such as Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, and Call of Duty.

Chief Business Development Officer at Team Liquid, Mike Milanov, shared his excitement about the partnership and promises fans will be thrilled by the custom artwork. He stated that the partnership offers its fans an opportunity to celebrate its players, content creators, and the brand in its entirety in a different way.

Displate offers an awesome product that will allow Team Liquid fans to celebrate our players, streamers, and brand in a new creative way, Milanov said.

Were excited to partner with Displate, and cant wait for Team Liquid fans to see the custom artwork!

Team Liquid was able to secure a number of partnerships in the first half of the year, including a naming rights deal with the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda and collaboration with Epic Games’ battle royale title Fortnite.

The franchise has also renewed existing partnerships owing to the strong relationships both parties have recorded. Earlier in May, Team Liquid renewed its long-term partnership with the gaming peripherals company HyperX.

On Monday, Activision Blizzard announced the first-ever official esports competition for World of Warcraft Classic. The WoW Classic Summer Bowl will kick off on Wednesday, June 17 and run for three weeks as teams from Europe and North America compete for separate US $4,000 prize pools.

Ever since Blizzard relaunched WoW Classic servers at the end of August 2019, the prominent gaming company saw immense growth in revenue and won back some of the support they lost within the gaming community during the Blitzchung controversy last October.

Since August, Blizzard have remained mostly hands-off when it came to WoW Classic as a potential esports title. While many see it as a very unbalanced game that is unsuited to competitive play, there are plenty of gamers who view the situation differently.

In a bid to show WoW Classic can work as an esports game, prominent WoW streamer and content creator Tips Out organised the Classic Dueler’s League (CDL), which was succeeded by the Twitch Rivals-hosted WoW Classic battleground tournament. The latter featured a plethora of Twitch streamers and iconic figures from the WoW Classic community competing for a US $10,000 prize pool.

The success of the inaugural season of CDL ushered Tips Out to run a second season in May this year. The league further expanded with a European CDL tournament, which is set to enter the group stage on Sunday, June 14, leading to the CDL European Championship starting on Thursday, June 18.

The immense success of community-hosted WoW events grabbed the attention of Activision Blizzard, who decided to show their support for the Classic WoW community by creating the first-ever fully sanctioned WoW Classic player-versus-player tournament – the WoW Classic Summer Bowl.

The Summer Bowl will use WoW Classic’s recently implemented War Game feature, which allows individual players to group up and compete against other groups of players who accept their invite. The tournament will see two groups of 10 players battle in the Capture the Flag game mode on the iconic Warsong Gulch (WSG) battleground.

The tournament will be split into two stages for each region: qualifiers and finals. The qualifiers are open sign-ups, while the finals will feature only the top six teams from each of Europe and North America. The format and other details about the tournament have yet to be revealed and may depend on the number of entries.

The only requirements the teams need to meet before they can apply for the Summer Bowl is to have 10 players, all of whom have level 60 characters. There are no gear requirements, although we are likely to see most players fully decked out with the highest tier of equipment, as well as Grand Marshals and High Warlords with their Rank 14 gear – the highest level of PvP equipment and weapons available in the game.

As a part of a rebrand which introduced a new logo and new team colours, Golden Guardians have announced they will extend their portfolio of esports teams and branch out into Apex Legends, Teamfight Tactics and World of Warcraft.

Golden Guardians’ first appearance in the esports scene came in late 2017 when they joined the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) along with 100 Thieves, Clutch Gaming and OpTic Gaming. Their inaugural roster consisted of Samson “Lourlo” Jackson, Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia, Hai “Hai” Du Lam, Matthew “Deftly” Chen and Matthew “Matt” Elento, with Choi “Locodoco” Yoon-seop as head coach.

The newly established team failed to achieve much success in their LCS debut, finishing both 2018 splits dead-last with an aggregate score of 9-27. Those poor results led to several changes and a roster reshuffle, which saw GGS improve to finish fifth-sixth in the 2019 LCS Spring Split and seventh in the Summer Split.

After a rather underwhelming venture in the League of Legends esports scene, Golden Guardians announced on Wednesday they will be expanding their brand into Apex Legends, World of Warcraft and Teamfight Tactics.

Rebecca Becca Cho, Jeffrey DeliciousMilkGG Pan and Andrew TidesofTime Biessener will from now on play Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra and Hearthstone under the GGS banner.

GGS’s Apex Legends esports team will consist of Timothy iiTzTimmy An, Devon Pfitter Self and Deston Bronzey Nguyen. They will also make appearances in other battle royale games.

Last but not least, Jason Pikaboo Smith, Conner Wizk Torrence, Vincent Jellybeans Tran and Carlos Absterge Correa will form Golden Guardians’ World of Warcraft esports team. These four once played together at The Goshu Crew, where they clinched a silver medal at the 2018 Arena World Championship before leaving to form their own squad, The Move.

Golden Guardians are the esports arm of the Golden State Warriors NBA team. According to Kirk Lacob, GSW Sports Ventures Vice President, the franchise is eager to make a lasting impact beyond the boards.

Expanding our esports portfolio is an integral part of growing the Warriors brand from just a basketball team to a sports and entertainment company, he said.

We are always looking for innovative ways to strengthen the footprint of our organization, and growing the Golden Guardians brand is a major aspect of that growth.

Golden Guardians also revealed a new logo, which will move away from the yellow and blue colour scheme of the Warriors to a more modern-looking black and gold logo. The new branding has received fairly positive feedback so far, which is quite the opposite of what Evil Geniuses experienced after unveiling their new logo earlier this week.

With that move, Golden Guardians will spread their reach into three growing esports titles. Auto-battler games are slowly but surely finding their feet in the competitive gaming scene, while EA and Respawn recently announced the Apex Legends Global Series – a new multi-tournament esports event which is set to kick off in January 2020.

World of Warcraft fans and players were thrilled and shocked at the announcement last week revealing the long-standing games seventh expansion Battle for Azeroth will be released on August 14, 2018.

This date is a month earlier than the initial expected release date, September 21, so the bringing forward of the expansion by a month went down very well with current players as they push to complete the current end game content and test the new expansion in its current invite only alpha stage.

The expansion was initially revealed at Blizzard Entertainments annual game festival Blizzcon held at Anaheim, California late in 2017 and teased the story of the Alliance and Horde at war again after the questionable peace treaty they had during the Legion.

The expansion looks to be heavily based around the resource Azerite with both factions fighting to control the mysterious resource weeping from the planet.

The release date announcement was also accompanied by a new video teasing game-play and story of eagerly awaited expansion.

The expansion has so far confirmed:

  • The two new continents of Kul Tiras & Zandalar each with many zones to explore
  • New playable races known as Allied races
  • Level cap increased to 120
  • 10 new dungeons to conquer
  • Two new raids
  • Island expeditions C three player scenarios that can be queued PVE or PVP
  • Warfronts C RTS style scenario
  • Player stat squish and class revamps

Esports in Battle for Azeroth

The expansion looks set to drive the WoW Esports scene and initial thoughts are the story line the expansion is expected to be heavily PVP (player vs player) focused, which should mean a ton of focus and changes coming for the competitive PVP tournaments the World of Warcraft Esports scene was originally known for prior to the Mythic Dungeon Invitational.

With the structure of the story being focused around war it would be the perfect time to introduce Rated battle ground tournaments in to the competitive scene bringing 10 on 10 matches with objectives similar to that of Overwatch as opposed to the regular 3v3 death match.

Many are also speculating following the great success the Mythic Dungeon Invitational tournament they may follow a similar approach and implement the Island expeditions as a new competitive tournament mode.

The World of Warcraft professional esports scene will undergo a structural revamp and receive higher prize-pools in 2018.

In an official WoW esports live stream, Blizzard Esports Manager Jeramy McIntyre and Community Manager Josh Allen revealed the big plans for how World of Warcraft esports will be presented this year.

The biggest news is the 2018 WoW Arena World Championship will now be supported with “a full calendar of tournaments around the world”, ensuring only the best players and teams make it to the final stage, which now offers contestants a share of a US$280,000 prize pool.

While details on the new regional tournaments in Asia-Pacific, China and Latin America are coming later in the year, the first European and North American Seasonal Finals were announced. Four teams each from Europe and North America will battle it out in both events to win a share of the $100,000 prize-pool, and a coveted spot at the 2018 World Championship.

The WoW Arena Cups will now be spread more evenly throughout the year, with nine cups held in each region (18 total) and the first of the three Arena Cup seasons will commence on January 31.

Arena Cups now offer both cash prizes and AWC Points, and the team with the most points from each season will be invited to that season’s Finals events, whereas the best overall teams of the year from each supported region will be invited to play at the Arena World Championship.

Arena Cups will also get a boost in prize-pools: Blizzard is putting up US $10,000 (previously $6,000) in prizes for the winners for all 18 events.

The Mythic Dungeon Invitational is also making a comeback this year, with events running for Asia Pacific, Americas, China and Europe. Each region will have their own weekend of broadcasts, as the best teams of five battle through the Proving Grounds and Time Trials to earn a spot in their Regional Finals and ultimately the Global Finals.

The new format will be double elimination and the Mythic Keystone level will be more dynamic to reward participants who clear dungeons quicker or survive the harder ones. Two teams from each region will make it to the Global Finals, to make eight global teams who will compete on stage at a Blizzard-organized live event.

While World of WarCraft isn’t exactly Blizzard’s primary focus when it comes to esports these days – that honour goes to the Overwatch League, which smashed viewership records last week – it’s great to see the game is still receiving support for the smaller, but equally passionate competitive community.

Official dates and venues for both the Seasonal Finals and the Arena Cups are to be announced at a later date – you can watch the official WoW esport roadmap video embedded below.

Twitch and Blizzard esports

Twitch.tv has officially partnered up with Blizzard Entertainment for exclusive third-party live streaming video rights to Blizzard esports tournaments through 2018, which includes Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, StarCraft II and World of Warcraft.

For the next two years, only Blizzard themselves and Twitch will broadcast Blizzard-sponsored esport content, which grants the popular video game streaming service a significant monopoly over some of the biggest and most watched esports competitions worldwide. Twitch has so far announced broadcasting rights for over 20 “major individual events”, including:

  • Heroes of the Storm Global Championship (HGC)
  • StarCraft II World Championship Series (WCS Circuit)
  • Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT)
  • Hearthstone Global Games (HGG)
  • World of Warcraft Arena Championship
  • Overwatch APEX League
  • Overwatch Premier Series

Amazon and Twitch Prime members also get additional bonuses as part of the deal, with Blizzard giving Prime members exclusive in-game content for its games. From June 20 to August 10, subscribers to either premium service will be awarded a golden loot box in Overwatch – guaranteeing at one legendary item. Considering the crazy efforts people tend to go to obtain such cosmetic items, it’s definitely an enticing incentive to jump on board and enjoy the new official home for Blizzard esports tournaments.

The collaboration between live stream video gaming services and goliath esports gaming company is not a new phenomenon. The Blizzard and Twitch team-up is just the latest in a series of high-profile broadcasting partnerships, with Riot Games pocketing $300 million per year from BAM Tech for granting exclusive broadcast distribution of League of Legend tournaments through 2023.

Neither Twitch or Blizzard have confirmed the financial extent of the monolith deal, but we’re fairly sure it’s a big one – but well worth the asking price, considering the upcoming debut of Blizzard’s Overwatch League and the continuing growth of the esports industry as a whole, projected to exceed $1 billion this year and over $1.23 billion in 2019.
