{"id":39739,"date":"2024-11-22T20:12:58","date_gmt":"2024-11-23T01:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/?p=39739"},"modified":"2024-11-22T20:20:28","modified_gmt":"2024-11-23T01:20:28","slug":"valve-changes-shanghai-major-elimination-stage-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/valve-changes-shanghai-major-elimination-stage-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Valve changes Shanghai Major elimination stage rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ahead of the penultimate round of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: European RMR B, Valve announced Shanghai Major elimination stage qualification rule changes, sparking outrage among fans and the <a href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/counter-strike\/\" title=\"Counter-Strike 2 betting guide\">Counter-Strike 2<\/a> teams.<\/p>\n<p>While the Shangahi Major 2024 Europe RMR A ended without major surprises, the <a href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/shanghai-major-europe-b-rmr-first-day-produced-surprise-results\/\" title=\"Shanghai Major news\">second European RMR has featured a handful of upsets<\/a>, resulting in two unlikely teams, 3DMAX and BIG, securing the top two spots in the Swiss Stage.<\/p>\n<p>According to the originally announced rules, this should give both a direct invite to the <a href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/counter-strike\/perfect-world-shanghai-major\/\" title=\"Perfect World Shanghai Major betting guide\">Perfect World Shanghai Major<\/a> elimination stage.<\/p>\n<p>But that is no longer guaranteed after Valve&#8217;s rule change on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>As stated by Valve, the elimination stage invites will not be handed out based on the teams&#8217; placement in the RMR and instead on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS).<\/p>\n<p>With the rulebook change, placing top-four in the European RMRs no longer qualifies teams for the Major&#8217;s second stage. <\/p>\n<p>Moreover, there will no longer be fourth-place deciders.<\/p>\n<p>This goes against Perfect World&#8217;s initially announced rules, which, according to the Chinese tournament organiser, were confirmed by Valve before the start of the RMR.<\/p>\n<p>While rule change should not affect the outcome of EU RMR A, things could be different in EU RMR B, where two outsiders\u2014BIG and 3MAX\u2014punched their Major tickets early.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Crazy to change rules mid tournament.. life is unfair sometimes but just another challenge to accept and to overcome.
